What is the upload fee cap?
Data written to AWS by your gateway is $0.01/GB, capped at $125 per gateway per month. The first 100 GB written per account per month is free (aggregated across gateways).
Does File Gateway include S3 costs?
Objects stored in S3 bill at standard S3 rates. This calculator optionally models S3 Standard storage; request and retrieval charges are excluded.
When does Direct Connect matter?
Large sustained upload/sync workloads over the public internet may need Direct Connect or VPN with adequate bandwidth. Data transfer out from Storage Gateway to an EC2 gateway in the same Region is free.
How accurate is this estimate?
Arithmetic matches published us-east-1 rates for the inputs you provide. EC2-hosted gateway appliance hours, CloudWatch, and S3 request charges are excluded.
