Enter usage for the six services that dominate most mid-market AWS bills. Not sure of a number? Compute it in the dedicated calculator and bring it back here.
EC2 computesize it →
Blended On-Demand at ~$0.045/vCPU-hour (m5-class). 16 vCPUs ≈ 4× m5.large running all month.
EBS block storagesize it →
gp3 at $0.08/GB-month. Excludes provisioned IOPS/throughput above the gp3 baseline.
RDS databasessize it →
Blended at ~$0.09/vCPU-hour (db.m5-class, Single-AZ). Storage billed separately.
S3 object storagesize it →
S3 Standard at $0.023/GB-month. Excludes request, retrieval, and lifecycle-tier charges.
Data transfer out (to internet)size it →
Blended at $0.09/GB (first-tier list rate). CloudFront can materially lower this.
NAT Gatewaysize it →
$0.045/gateway-hour + $0.045/GB processed. Often the largest hidden networking line item.
Who This Tool Is For
CTOs, FinOps leads, and CFOs who need a defensible AWS bill number — before a budget review, a board update, or a cost-optimization engagement. If your teams have run the per-service calculators but nobody has rolled the pieces into one figure, start here.
Why We Built This Tool
Most companies we work with can price a single service but can't articulate their whole bill or its composition. This roll-up mirrors the us-east-1 rate card we use in client reviews and shows the share each service takes — the first thing finance asks and the fastest way to spot where optimization pays off.
What Problem It Solves
- One number, not ten tabs. Combine compute, storage, database, egress, and networking in a single estimate.
- Composition, not just total. See what percentage each service is of the bill so you attack the right driver.
- Hidden line items surfaced. NAT processing and data-transfer egress are modeled, not ignored.
- Board-ready. A shared number unblocks the finance-and-engineering conversation.
Pair with our cloud cost optimization engagement, or drill into a single service with the EC2, RDS, and NAT Gateway calculators.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which services does this roll-up cover?
The six that dominate most mid-market bills: EC2 compute, EBS block storage, RDS databases, S3 object storage, data transfer out to the internet, and NAT Gateway. It intentionally leaves out the long tail — use the individual service calculators for Lambda, EKS, CloudWatch, Bedrock, and dozens more, then add those numbers to this baseline.
Where do these prices come from?
AWS us-east-1 list rates as of 2026-07-09: EC2 ~$0.045/vCPU-hour (blended m5-class On-Demand), EBS gp3 $0.08/GB-month, RDS ~$0.09/vCPU-hour (db.m5-class Single-AZ), S3 Standard $0.023/GB-month, data transfer out $0.09/GB (first tier), and NAT Gateway $0.045/gateway-hour plus $0.045/GB processed. Confirm against the AWS Pricing Calculator before budgeting.
How accurate is this?
It is a directional roll-up, not a bill. Blended On-Demand rates smooth over instance-family and Region differences, and it excludes Reserved Instance/Savings Plan discounts, support charges, and the long tail of smaller services. Treat it as a baseline for a budget conversation, then validate against your actual Cost Explorer data.
Does it include Reserved Instances or Savings Plans discounts?
No — the total is On-Demand list pricing on purpose, so it represents the un-optimized ceiling. The gated savings estimate then shows the 20–40% range a typical optimization pass recovers from that ceiling.
Do I have to enter my AWS credentials?
No. Nothing connects to your account. The estimate uses only the usage numbers you enter, and they stay in your browser.
