# For COOs

## For COOs, VP Operations, and Heads of Operations

Your week is queues: WISMO, exceptions, a reorder list, a morning priority brief. An AI agent is useful when it takes the **first pass** on that pile and **stops** when money moves. It is not useful as a warehouse rewrite or an unsupervised refund machine.

This page is not [For IT Directors](/for/it-director/). That page is Control Tower, DR, and account coverage. There is no `/for/operations-leader/` — this URL covers the ops seat.

Gorgias, reported via [Redo](https://redo.com/resources/articles/order-editing/what-is-wismo), puts **WISMO at about 18%** of incoming requests. That is why [customer support](/ai-agents/customer-support/) is the usual first family. [Operations](/ai-agents/operations/) and [inventory](/ai-agents/inventory/) follow when the data joins.

## Week one is reads

A support agent that looks up orders is not a refund machine. [How AI agents can reduce customer support work](/blog/how-ai-agents-reduce-customer-support-work-2026/) is the executive cut. The allow-list lives in the field guide.

If the org score is under **16/30**, do not attach write tools. [Where to start](/blog/where-to-start-with-ai-agents-2026/) and the [decide tree](/decide/which-ecommerce-agent-first/) are the next two clicks.

## What you can verify

We have **zero published AI-agent case studies**. The SES case linked below is email infrastructure, not an operations agent. Checkable agent work: the [64-part field guide](/resources/ecommerce-ai-agents/), the [support tool-policy artifact](https://www.factualminds.com/examples/architecture-blog-2026/ecommerce-ai-agents-series/support-agent-tool-policy.md), and published platform numbers (Gateway **~180 ms → ~95 ms**, Browser-hot pilots **~3×** Runtime-shaped spend, **~$791/mo** at 50K sessions as a floor).

FactualMinds is an [AWS Select Tier Services Partner](/aws-partner/). The platform matters the day the queue spikes. It is not the first sentence of the standup.

## If you only do one thing

Walk the [decide tree](/decide/which-ecommerce-agent-first/) after a **/30** score. Write the week-one allow-list before anyone hosts a loop.

## By the Numbers

- **18%** — WISMO share of tickets in a public Gorgias/Redo figure
- **16/30** — Published readiness bar before write tools
- **5** — Agent families — start with one
- **64** — Part field guide with copyable allow-lists

## AWS Services for This Role

### Customer Support Agent
WISMO and policy reads. Refunds wait. The usual first family when tickets repeat and the OMS API is named.

### Operations Agent
A daily priority brief — not a warehouse rewrite. Later a control tower, same guardrails.

Learn more: /ai-agents/operations/

### Inventory Agent
Reorder risk brief. A buyer still sends the PO.

### eCommerce AI Agents on AWS
The engagement you buy: one scoped agent, evals, then the next — not a sixth SKU per family.

## FAQ

### I am a VP of Operations, not the COO. Is this page for me?
Yes. For COOs covers COO, VP Operations, and Head of Operations. There is no /for/operations-leader/ URL. If your week is Control Tower, DR, and account coverage, use For IT Directors instead.

### When should we NOT start with a write-capable agent?
If readiness is under 16/30, if there is no named human queue, or if leadership only wants auto-refund. Week one is reads plus escalate. Prompt text is not authorization.

### What could go wrong if the AI team owns the first agent?
Ops owns the refund; IT owns the bot; nobody owns goldens. The first wrong createReturn has no RACI. Name a business owner and an engineering owner before you host a loop.

### Should we start with inventory or support?
Usually support reads — WISMO is about 18% of tickets in the public Gorgias figure we cite — if the OMS API is named. Inventory is first when ATP is trustworthy and a buyer already owns POs. Do not start both. Use the decide tree.

### Do you have operations-agent case studies?
No. Manufacturing IoT and SES cases on this site are not agent delivery. Proof is the support allow-list artifact, the field guide, and the published platform benchmarks — including roughly 3x Runtime-shaped spend when Browser stayed hot on lookup-only turns.
