# For CEOs

## For mid-market CEOs — not founders on Activate

You are being asked to "do something with AI agents." The useful question is narrower: **which work already repeats**, who owns a wrong answer, and what you can verify before you fund a fleet.

This page is not [For Startup Founders](/for/startup-founder/). That page is credits, MVP, and SOC 2 Type I. If you are past that, stay here.

**On June 17, 2026**, AgentCore Harness reached general availability. Hosting a first loop got cheaper. It did not make a company ready. [McKinsey's State of AI 2025](https://www.mckinsey.com/capabilities/quantumblack/our-insights/the-state-of-ai) found **62%** of organizations experimenting with agents and **23%** scaling in at least one function. Experimenting is not a program.

## What to fund first

Fund the **lookup pile** — status, policy, a reorder brief — not tax, capture, or labels. The executive filter is [What business processes should you automate with AI?](/blog/what-business-processes-to-automate-with-ai-2026/). The commercial door is the [AI Agents hub](/ai-agents/).

A chatbot that searches help articles is not an agent. An agent uses tools and can be **stopped** before money moves. That distinction is [AI agents vs chatbots](/blog/ai-agents-vs-chatbots-2026/).

## What you can verify

We have **zero published AI-agent case studies**. The SES and SaaS cost cases linked below are **AWS** outcomes. Do not put them in a board deck as agent delivery.

Checkable today: a [64-part field guide](/resources/ecommerce-ai-agents/), a [readiness score /30](/blog/ecommerce-ai-agent-readiness-assessment-2026/) (below **16**, skip writes), and first-party platform numbers we already publish — Gateway **~180 ms → ~95 ms**, support-style AgentCore **~$791/mo at 50K sessions** as a **floor**, not savings.

FactualMinds is an [AWS Select Tier Services Partner](/aws-partner/). AWS is how agents stay up. It is not the first sentence of the meeting.

## If you only do one thing

Open the [hub](/ai-agents/), then [where to start](/blog/where-to-start-with-ai-agents-2026/). Pick one family. Do not approve a five-agent roadmap until that one has a stop rule.

## By the Numbers

- **64** — Part published field guide — the checkable proof of work
- **5** — Agent families on the commercial hub
- **16/30** — Published readiness bar before write tools
- **50+** — AWS certifications on staff

The commercial door: support, sales, operations, inventory, and knowledge. Not a sixth SKU per family.

When the question is the platform under the agent — Well-Architected, not a model bake-off.

## Recommended Tools

- **[Agentic Commerce Readiness Checker](/tools/agentic-commerce-readiness-checker/)** — Score whether your data can support an agent at all.
- **[eCommerce AI Agent ROI Calculator](/tools/ecommerce-ai-agent-roi-calculator/)** — Rank one workflow you already measure. Do not treat the output as booked savings.
- **[Which agent first?](/decide/which-ecommerce-agent-first/)** — Pick one family after a readiness score — not a five-agent program.

## FAQ

### When should a CEO NOT fund an AI agent program?
Do not fund a fleet, a write-capable agent, or a vendor slide with a round savings percentage if readiness is under 16/30, if there is no named owner, or if the only ask is "do something with AI." Fund one read-only workflow — or fund the data work. Or fund nothing.

### How is this different from For Startup Founders?
Startup Founders is Activate credits, MVP-to-production, and SOC 2 Type I for pre-seed to Series B. This page is mid-market leverage: which repetitive work is worth an agent, and what you can verify before a board slide. If you are raising on an MVP, use the founder page.

### Do you have AI-agent case studies I can show the board?
No. We will not present SES volume, a WAF deployment, or a SaaS cost cut as if they were agents we shipped. Those cases are AWS proof. Agent proof is the 64-part field guide, the readiness checklist, and published platform numbers such as ~$791/mo at 50K sessions — a cost floor, not store savings.

### What could go wrong if we start with a multi-agent program?
Nobody owns goldens. The first wrong refund or purchase order has no RACI. You pay platform cost on five half-built loops. Start with one family on the hub. Expand after evals and a stop rule exist.

### Should we wait for AWS Agentic AI Competency before we talk?
We are an AWS Select Tier Services Partner pursuing Agentic AI Consulting Services. That is not a granted Competency. Waiting for a badge does not change whether your lookup pile is agent-shaped. Talk when you have a process and an owner.
