# Amazon DataZone subscription pilot checklist (July 2026)

Use before expanding DataZone beyond a single producer/consumer pair. Reconcile against [Amazon DataZone concepts](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/datazone/latest/userguide/datazone-concepts.html) and current [pricing dimensions](https://aws.amazon.com/datazone/pricing/) (requests, metadata storage, compute, AI recommendation tokens — **not** a per-asset monthly SKU).

## Preconditions

- [ ] Lake Formation enabled on the Glue Data Catalog in producer accounts
- [ ] Domain + domain units (if used) map to real org ownership
- [ ] One producer project and one consumer project named with owners
- [ ] Glue database / Redshift schema selected for the pilot asset

## Business enrichment (do not skip)

- [ ] Business description on the pilot asset (not only technical schema)
- [ ] Glossary term(s) assigned
- [ ] Data owner identified and can approve subscriptions within SLA
- [ ] PII / classification tags visible (Macie/Glue detection if applicable)

## Subscription workflow drill

1. Consumer submits subscription request with business justification
2. Producer approves/rejects with written reason
3. Confirm Lake Formation (or Redshift) grant lands; note wall-clock minutes
4. Capture EventBridge completion event if you automate notify
5. Revoke / unsubscribe and confirm access removed

## Success metrics
